Twin Valley is not excluded from the ever-growing list of companies that have been targeted by cybercriminals through malicious email attacks. Cybercriminals are known for trying to trick you by creating and sending fake emails that appear to be from an authentic source. Known as a phishing attack, these messages might ask you to confirm personal information, click on a link, or open an attachment. However, falling for one of these tricks could lead to identity theft or downloading malware. Phishing emails remain one of the most common online threats today. Be aware of the signs and know what to do when you encounter them.
1. The email asks you to confirm personal information.
Watch out for emails asking you to confirm sensitive information that you wouldn’t normally provide, such as your username, password, Social Security number, date of birth, or bank account details. Twin Valley will never request this type of information through email.
2. There are misspellings and poor grammar in the email.
If you notice multiple misspellings or poorly structured sentences, that’s a red flag. Many phishing emails are written by individuals who may not speak English as their first language. In some cases, scammers intentionally include errors to filter out anyone who is more cautious, ensuring that only the most vulnerable targets fall for their traps.
3. The email address doesn’t look genuine.
Recently, scammers have impersonated Twin Valley, using emails that claimed to be from us and even included our logo. However, these emails came from suspicious domains, such as @mail.skt.work or @atcseptic.com. Always check the sender’s email address carefully. A legitimate Twin Valley email related to your account will always come from @twinvalley.com.
4. It contains links to unexpected websites.
Before clicking any links in an email, hover over them to reveal the actual URL. If the link points to a suspicious or unfamiliar website, do not click on it. Twin Valley will never send links that redirect you to unknown domains.
5. There’s a suspicious attachment.
Be extremely cautious with unexpected attachments, especially from unknown senders. Even if the email appears to come from a trusted source, verify its authenticity before opening any attachments. At the very least, use antivirus software to scan it before opening.
6. The message makes you panic.
Scammers often use urgent language to pressure you into acting quickly, such as claiming your account will be deactivated or locked unless you act immediately. Twin Valley will never send threatening emails demanding immediate action.
Phishing attacks are becoming increasingly sophisticated, but by staying alert and informed, you can protect yourself from becoming a victim. Twin Valley is committed to your online security, so don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any concerns.
