After completing an underground fiber installation project, Clearwater residents now benefit from more reliable Internet and phone services as well as Internet speeds up to 1 Gbps. Along with other recent changes to SKT services, burying the fiber reduced the need for above-ground cables. To help create a more beautiful community, the unnecessary above-ground cables were removed in May and June 2019.
SKT partnered with Phillips Southern Electric Co., Inc. (PSE). to remove the unnecessary aerial cables, which did not cause interruptions in service. Due to record rainfall and flooding, the project was extended into early June to ensure the safety of technicians.
