  • Additional Safeguards for Survivors

At Twin Valley, we are committed to supporting all members of our community, including survivors of domestic violence and related crimes. The Safe Connections Act of 2022 is designed to ensure survivors can access safe and affordable communication services, helping them stay connected with critical support networks.

What the Safe Connections Act Provides:

    • Separation from Shared Plans: Survivors can separate their phone lines from family or shared plans without requiring the account holder’s approval, ensuring they have independent access to communication services.
    • Privacy Protection: Mobile providers are required to omit records of calls and text messages to domestic violence hotlines from consumer-facing call and text logs.
    • Financial Support: Survivors experiencing financial hardship may qualify for temporary support through the FCC’s Lifeline program mentioned above.

    Survivor Benefit Details:

    • Survivors may receive a temporary discount of up to $9.25 per month on phone or internet service for six months.
    • This benefit can be transferred to another provider, if needed, during the six-month period.
    • After the six-month survivor benefit ends, survivors may be eligible for the standard Lifeline discount (up to $9.25 for internet service or $5.25 for voice-only service), depending on their qualifications.

If you or someone you know needs help, we encourage you to call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 800.799.7233 or visit thehotline.org.
